On September 17, 2026, to address the widespread pain point of "wanting to go green but not knowing where to start," the "China Green Convention & Exhibition Service Platform," jointly developed by the International Convention and Exhibition Economy Committee (ICEEC) of the China International Economic Cooperation Association together with a number of industry institutions, was officially launched at the exchange conference held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin).

At the conference, the platform launch ceremony was jointly initiated by leading guests including Gao Yuanyuan, President of the China International Economic Cooperation Association; Chen Yongqing, former Director-General of the Department of Soil Ecology and Environment of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment; Zhang Yijun, former Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya; Yu Jie, Vice Chair of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the China Democratic League; Liu Xinguo, Deputy Director-General of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce; Zhu Yongyi, Chairman of the China Commodity Trading Market Council; Fan Peikang, Chair of ICEEC and former President and Editor-in-Chief of China Trade News; and Gao Zijian, Vice President of the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. The launch of the platform marks a new stage of digitalized and integrated services for green conventions and exhibitions in China.

One-stop service to solve the difficulty of "implementation on the ground." The platform is positioned as a comprehensive public-service platform integrating "standards inquiry, tool support, resource matchmaking, and case sharing," whose core goal is to provide every exhibition organizer with a clear, convenient, and actionable pathway for green exhibition transformation. The platform connects six major functions—policy review, standards study, carbon-accounting tools, case reference, a materials library, and resource matchmaking—centrally integrating policies, standards, technologies, cases, and supply-demand resources previously scattered across various sources. In the future, industry practitioners will no longer need to gather information from multiple sources; on the platform they can complete policy learning, carbon-footprint calculation, benchmark-case review, and upstream/downstream resource matchmaking, continuously empowering the normalized green upgrading of the exhibition industry.

Addressing three core pain points head-on, the launch of the platform precisely captures the three key pain points in the current promotion of green conventions and exhibitions.

First, the difficulty of inquiring about standards. The platform brings together the various green exhibition standards and guidelines issued at national and local levels, providing a unified and convenient search portal that helps organizers quickly understand compliance requirements and clarify "what counts as green."

Second, the lack of tools and methods. The platform provides practical tools such as low-carbon material selection and a carbon-emission calculator, along with technical guides on modular building and reusable display equipment, helping organizers solve the question of "how to do it" and lowering the technical threshold of green transformation.

Third, poor resource matchmaking. The platform integrates high-quality upstream and downstream resources across the industrial chain—green venues, eco-friendly stand builders, low-carbon logistics providers, and waste-recovery institutions—to build a green convention and exhibition ecosystem, solving the question of "who to turn to" and promoting efficient matching between supply and demand.

At the launch ceremony, participating guests generally agreed that green conventions and exhibitions are a systematic project requiring coordinated development across the entire industrial chain. The establishment of the China Green Convention & Exhibition Service Platform is a key step toward improving the industrial ecosystem and lowering the threshold for enterprises' green transformation. It will effectively connect governments, associations, organizers, service providers, and exhibitors, forming a virtuous cycle of value co-creation, injecting strong momentum into the nationwide popularization of green exhibition concepts and the promotion of green practices, and accelerating the high-quality development of China's exhibition industry toward green, low-carbon, and circular practices.
